  1. Great quote. And in my own experience this also applies to a large degree in languages and harmony and counterpoint. But it cannot apply to economics, which requires an informed understanding of the problem before we can apply policy.

  2. I should clarify that – what I meant such an approach should not be used to try and understand the economy.

    Unfortunately it does unfortunately apply in the teaching of economics today, although it shouldn’t.
