Identity politics? No thanks!

  1. Identity politics are economic policy. It’s a way to divide the resistance when the state has to drive up the surplus extraction to meet its obligations. A typical example in north America was when the then colony Virginia faced insurrections from it’s settlers – the Bacon rebellion and others – and then instituted slavery for the Africans. The efficiency of this method can be seen today several hundred years later, as one of the reasons for the higher concentration of capital in the USA compared to other western countries
