Commenting on the development of top income shares in different countries, Harvard economist Greg Mankiw surmises on his blog:

Might the rising share of the top 1 percent be related to the increasing use of English as a global language?

  2. Lars, Re English versus Swedish and other languages, is there any chance of you telling us more about what Swedish economists are doing? I used to be fascinated by the labour market research done by Lars Calmfors and other Swedish labour market economists 20 or so years ago. That lot seem to have gone a bit quite in recent years. Perhaps that is because there is not the enthusiasm for “active labour market policies” that there used to be.

  3. Obviously banks need to start “English level targeting”..
